Avondale, AL

Avondale began as its own town around Avondale Mills and was annexed into Birmingham in 1910. After decades of decline, it came back starting around 2011 as one of the city’s favorite places to eat, drink and see a show. Most of the action is along 41st Street South, where you will find taprooms, breweries, music venues and casual restaurants within a few blocks. Avondale Park, once the largest park in the city and the original home of the Birmingham Zoo, was restored in 2011 and is a pleasant place for a walk.
