Forest Park was laid out beginning in 1906, with streets that follow the contours of Red Mountain and a mix of Craftsman, Tudor and Colonial Revival homes. The neighborhood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Forest Park Village, a short stretch of Clairmont Avenue, has locally owned restaurants, coffee and shops in a setting that still feels like a small town. Avondale is just down the hill, and Highland Golf Course sits at the neighborhood’s edge.
