About
Hotel Wildemont is a 99-room boutique hotel on Lane Park Road in Mountain Brook, the leafy suburb just over Red Mountain from downtown Birmingham. It opened in 2015 as the Grand Bohemian Mountain Brook and took on its new name on October 1, 2026. It remains part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, and the management team and staff stayed in place through the change, so returning guests will find the same hotel under a new sign.
The property has always leaned on art, food and its wooded setting, and the rebrand pushes further in that direction with the theme of a woodland retreat. It carries a AAA Four Diamond rating and is a favorite for weddings, anniversary weekends and small getaways for Birmingham locals as well as visitors.
Rooms and Amenities
Rooms range from standard kings to suites with separate living areas, and the top suites include two-bedroom layouts. Marble bathrooms and natural tones run throughout. Around the hotel you will find:
- The Spa at Hotel Wildemont: massages and other wellness treatments (formerly Poseidon Spa).
- Art gallery: a gallery showing original work, now with a Gallery Experience Lounge that hosts painting workshops, trivia nights and ticketed events.
- Pool: an outdoor pool with lounge seating.
- Fitness center: complimentary, with Peloton equipment.
- Billiards room and social spaces for groups.
- Event space: about 14,000 square feet, including a ballroom lawn for outdoor celebrations.
Dining
Habitat Feed & Social is the hotel’s rooftop restaurant, serving regionally inspired Southern dishes and craft cocktails, with seating that looks out toward the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The hotel also runs the Habitat Cooking School for hands-on classes, sommelier-led wine blending, a new 90-minute Cocktail Lab, and a communal “Whole Beast Feast” dinner offered Thursday through Sunday that requires 48 hours’ notice.
Location
The hotel sits across Lane Park Road from the Birmingham Zoo and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, two of the area’s most visited attractions, which makes it a natural base for families and garden lovers. Mountain Brook Village, with its boutiques and restaurants, is a short drive away, as is English Village. Downtown Birmingham is about a 10 to 15 minute drive depending on traffic, and Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is about 8.7 miles from the hotel.
Good to Know Before You Book
- The name change: since the rebrand is recent, some maps, booking sites and rideshare apps may still list the hotel as Grand Bohemian Mountain Brook.
- Parking: both self-parking and valet have been available. Check current details with the hotel, as some packages include valet credits.
- Pets: before the rebrand, Marriott listed one dog up to 40 pounds per room for a fee per stay. Confirm the policy when you book.
- Experiences: cooking classes, wine blending and the Whole Beast Feast need advance reservations, so plan them ahead of your stay.
For a quieter stay close to the zoo and gardens, with good food on site, Hotel Wildemont is one of the most distinctive options in the Birmingham area.
