Lighting of the Star and Homewood Christmas Parade

Homewood’s holiday season officially starts when the historic Homewood Star at the top of 18th Street lights up. That signals the start of the downtown Christmas parade, which rolls through the heart of Homewood and ends at City Hall, where the city tree is lit after the parade.

This year’s event is Thursday, December 3, starting at 6:30 p.m. Come early to claim a curb spot along 18th Street, and expect side streets to close and parking to fill fast. It is a short, kid-sized evening, and downtown restaurants make it easy to stay for dinner. Check Homewood Parks and Recreation for route and road closure details.
