Food for Thought Lecture Series

Third Thu monthly Alabama Department of Archives and History Free

The Alabama Department of Archives and History hosts Food for Thought, a free lunchtime lecture on the third Thursday of each month at noon. Historians, authors and archivists cover a different slice of Alabama history each time. Upcoming talks include polling in Alabama (October 15), Army aviation in the region (November 19) and the Alabama Media Group photo collection (December 17).

Many regulars bring a lunch. The building sits across from the State Capitol, and the museum galleries are worth a look before or after. If you cannot make it downtown, each program also streams live on the Archives’ Facebook and YouTube pages. Check the schedule, since a date occasionally moves.
