About

The Westin Huntsville is a full-service hotel built into Bridge Street Town Centre, the open-air shopping and dining district in Cummings Research Park on the city’s west side. It opened in 2008 as the first Westin in Alabama and has 232 rooms, including 16 suites, plus more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space. That mix makes it a common pick for engineers and contractors visiting the research park during the week and for families and couples on weekends.

The appeal here is convenience. You can park once, walk out the door to dozens of shops and restaurants around the Bridge Street lake, and be on Interstate 565 in a couple of minutes. The hotel completed a renovation of its guest rooms in 2025, so the rooms feel current rather than dated.

Rooms and Amenities

Rooms are furnished with the Westin Heavenly beds the brand is known for, and the suites give you extra space if you are staying several nights for work. Amenities worth knowing about include:

  • Two pools: an indoor pool with a hot tub that stays open year-round, and a seasonal outdoor pool with swim-through access between the two.
  • WestinWORKOUT studio: a 24-hour fitness room with Peloton bikes, Life Fitness equipment and free weights.
  • Meeting space: nine rooms, including a ballroom that seats several hundred, plus outdoor event space.
  • EV charging: stations are available on site.

Dining

Sage Grille is the hotel’s main restaurant, serving Southern American dishes for guests and locals alike. For a quick coffee or something to grab on the way to a meeting, Trieste Café pours Starbucks drinks and keeps grab-and-go items on hand. In-room dining is also available. That said, one of the best parts of staying here is how many restaurants sit within a short walk across Bridge Street, so you are never limited to the hotel menu.

Location

Bridge Street Town Centre sits at the corner of Old Madison Pike, Research Park Boulevard and I-565, right in the middle of Cummings Research Park. The shops, restaurants and the five-acre lake at the center of the development are steps from the lobby. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is a short drive east on I-565, and the Huntsville Botanical Garden is nearby as well. Huntsville International Airport is about 8.5 miles away, which makes this one of the easier full-service hotels to reach after an evening flight. Downtown Huntsville, with Big Spring Park and the Von Braun Center, is roughly a 15 minute drive depending on traffic.

Good to Know Before You Book

  • Parking: self-parking is complimentary, and valet is available for a daily fee if you prefer.
  • Pets: dogs are welcome, up to two per room at 40 pounds or less each, with a nightly fee capped per stay. Cats, birds and reptiles are not allowed.
  • Weeknights vs. weekends: because the hotel serves Research Park, weekday occupancy tends to be driven by business travel, while weekends lean toward leisure guests and events at Bridge Street.
  • Wi-Fi: it is complimentary for Marriott Bonvoy members, so it is worth signing up for the free program before you arrive.

If your trip centers on Research Park, Redstone Arsenal business or a Space Center visit and you want a walkable spot for dinner without moving the car, the Westin is a practical, comfortable base.
