About

On East Chisholm Road in Florence, Yoga House Florence has built a studio around accessibility as much as instruction. The studio is co-owned by Mika Groscost and Ashley Haselton, and it offers a range of class levels, from Foundations for beginners to Flow and Slow Flow for more experienced students, backed by a sliding-scale pricing model designed to keep yoga within reach regardless of a student’s budget.

Co-owner Mika Groscost graduated from Auburn University and taught English in Taiwan before discovering yoga, later completing a 200-hour multi-style teacher training in India in 2015; she now focuses on trauma-informed somatic yoga and applied polyvagal yoga. Co-owner Ashley Haselton came to yoga from a corporate career after turning to the practice for her own health, earned a 200-hour certification in 2012, trained further in San Francisco and Bali, and has since become a Nutritional Therapy Consultant who leads retreats and teacher trainings. Sarah Baxter, a former psychiatric nurse practitioner from Austin, Texas who moved to Florence in 2015 and holds a 200-hour RYT certification, teaches Heated Vinyasa with an emphasis on mental health advocacy. Kailey Smith, a Florence native and flight attendant who started practicing in college and recently completed her RYT 200, teaches asana, breath-work, and meditation. Josh Bretherick has practiced yoga since 2000 and trained in Northern Shaolin, Praying Mantis, and Taiji, bringing Ashtanga and Anusara systems into his classes with a focus on strength and alignment.

The weekly schedule runs seven days: Sunday opens with a free Yoga for the Subtle Spine class at 9 a.m. taught by Kailey, aimed at spinal mobility and alignment; Monday offers Flow and Restore at 9 a.m., Gentle Yoga at 2:30 p.m., and Flow Yoga at 5:45 p.m.; Tuesday runs Slow Flow at both 9 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.; Wednesday repeats Flow and Restore at 9 a.m. and Flow Yoga at 5:45 p.m.; Thursday pairs Yoga Foundations at 9 a.m. with Slow Flow at 5:45 p.m.; Friday offers All Levels at 9 a.m. followed by the studio’s signature Flow to Fly Fridays at 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday closes the week with an All Levels class at 10 a.m. Flow to Fly Fridays also incorporates a monthly Authentic Yang Style Tai Chi session on the last Friday of the month for students looking to round out their practice with a different movement discipline.

Pricing at Yoga House is intentionally layered to fit different budgets and commitment levels. A first-time visitor can start with a one-month unlimited intro offer priced at $55, while standard drop-in classes run $15 each, or $8 for students and military with valid identification. Class packages include five classes for $65, valid two months, or ten classes for $120, valid three months, with a discounted five-class student and military package at $35. For students who want to attend regularly, monthly unlimited memberships range from a no-commitment $120 one-time month to a recurring $95 a month with a three-month minimum, along with a $150 monthly couples package and a $70 monthly student and military rate, both on a three-month minimum. Private yoga sessions are available with rates provided on request, and the studio has said it will work directly with anyone facing financial hardship to help them keep yoga in their routine, a detail that runs through its free Sunday class and sliding-scale options alike.

Students book through the studio’s mobile app, which also handles the sliding-scale and package payment options, making it straightforward to check the week’s offerings and reserve a spot before showing up. Questions about pricing, private sessions, or financial accommodations can be directed to the studio by email at info@yogahouseflorence.com, and class updates are posted on both Facebook and Instagram under the handle yogahouseflorence.

Yoga House Florence has become a fixture for people across the city looking for a community-oriented studio rather than a chain fitness class labeled as yoga. Between a teaching team whose backgrounds range from psychiatric nursing to martial arts, a full seven-day class schedule, and a tiered pricing structure built to meet students where their budgets are, the studio has carved out a steady role in Florence’s wellness scene as a place built specifically around the practice of yoga itself.
