Sidewalk Film Festival

Sidewalk Film Festival is Alabama’s best-known independent film festival, filling downtown Birmingham with screenings, filmmaker panels, parties and workshops for a full week. Films run across several downtown venues, with Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema as home base.

The 2027 festival is scheduled for August 23 to 29. Passes and single tickets go on sale through Sidewalk’s site, and the full schedule usually posts in the summer. Many venues are within walking distance of each other, so park once and walk between screenings. Late August is hot, so carry water between venues.
