About
Since 2011, photographer Keelan Walker has been building a wedding and portrait photography business out of Florence, working with couples who want imagery described as fun, fresh, and timeless rather than formal and stiff. What started as an independent solo venture has grown into a recognized name among Shoals-area couples planning their weddings, with Walker’s own website describing her as bringing more than a decade of hands-on wedding experience to every booking.

The business focuses primarily on wedding photography, engagement sessions, and portrait work, with an additional emphasis on destination weddings for couples getting married outside the immediate Florence area. Rather than trying to book as many weddings as possible each season, Keelan Walker intentionally limits the number of weddings taken on annually, a choice aimed at giving each couple more attention and a more personalized experience throughout the planning and shooting process. Walker has described her philosophy directly: wedding photography works best when couples have a real relationship with their photographer and fully trust her, which is why she treats the experience and education she provides leading up to the wedding as being just as important as the images themselves.

That selective approach shows up in the finished work, which leans toward candid, in-the-moment images alongside more posed portraits, giving couples a mix of documentary-style coverage and intentional portraiture from their wedding day. Walker has said the detail shots at the start of a wedding day serve as her creative warm-up, and that couple portraits are where she feels she produces her best work. She is also a strong advocate for private first looks, noting that roughly 90 percent of her brides choose to see their groom privately before the ceremony, a choice that opens up more time for relaxed portraits later in the day, including her favorite moment to capture: the groom’s reaction to seeing his bride.

Working independently rather than as part of a larger studio or franchise operation gives Keelan Walker direct control over every client relationship, from the initial inquiry through final delivery of images. For couples in Florence and the surrounding Shoals area, that means working with the same photographer throughout the process rather than being handed off to an associate or second shooter for the actual wedding day. Outside of shooting, Walker travels four to five times a year, favoring tropical destinations like the Caribbean, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Hawaii, and she has openly welcomed clients’ pets into sessions, a fondness for animals reflected in her own dog, Max, whom she has owned for 13 years.
Because the business operates by appointment and project rather than out of a public storefront, most communication happens directly by email at Keelan@KeelanWalkerPhotography.com, and prospective clients are encouraged to reach out to discuss availability and pricing for their specific date and needs. Given the intentional cap on annual bookings, couples planning weddings well in advance are generally advised to inquire early, particularly for popular wedding season dates. Past clients have echoed that experience directly, with one couple, Caitlyn and Tyler, saying Walker “made our wedding day unforgettable,” and another, Kelsie and Jordan, describing the experience as professional and positive throughout. That kind of feedback reflects the trust-first approach Walker builds her business around, treating each wedding less like a transaction and more like a relationship that starts well before the ceremony and continues through the final delivery of photos.
For anyone in Florence planning a wedding, an engagement session, or a portrait sitting, Keelan Walker Photography offers a locally rooted alternative to larger regional studios, backed by more than a decade of experience shooting in and around the Shoals. The combination of a deliberately limited client list and a style built around genuine, fresh imagery has kept the business a steady presence in the local wedding photography scene since 2011.
