About
The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa at the Convention Center is a full-service hotel in the heart of downtown Montgomery, with 342 rooms and a AAA Four Diamond rating. It is part of a complex that also includes the Montgomery Convention Center and the Montgomery Performing Arts Center, so it is the default choice for conventions, state association meetings and Broadway touring shows.
It also works well for leisure travelers. The hotel sits a short walk from the Riverfront and from many of the sites that bring people to Montgomery, including the Legacy Museum and the Alabama State Capitol. Staying here lets you park the car and explore downtown on foot.
Rooms and Amenities
Rooms are set up for both work and downtime, with desks, refrigerators, free Wi-Fi and city views from the upper floors. Amenities include:
- The Spa at Montgomery: a full-service spa offering massages, facials and fitness services.
- Rooftop pool: an outdoor pool and whirlpool on the roof, open seasonally.
- Fitness center: on site for hotel guests.
- Meeting space: a 14,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom plus 18 breakout rooms, with the adjoining convention center adding more than 73,000 square feet.
- Concierge and room service.
Dining
The House is the hotel’s restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is handy during conferences when you have limited time between sessions. The Exchange is the bar, known for craft cocktails, lighter plates and live music on some nights. Downtown also has a growing number of restaurants within walking distance if you want to get out of the hotel for dinner.
Location
The hotel sits on Tallapoosa Street, close to Interstate 65, in the middle of downtown. Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, home of the Montgomery Biscuits minor league baseball team, is close by, and the Riverfront along the Alabama River is a short walk away. The Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, two of the most important places to visit in the state, are nearby, as are the Alabama State Capitol and Alabama State University. The Montgomery Zoo is about 15 minutes away by car. Montgomery Regional Airport is about 8.5 miles from the hotel, and if you are flying into Birmingham instead, plan on a drive of roughly 95 miles.
Good to Know Before You Book
- Parking: self-parking and valet are both available for a daily fee.
- Pets: pets are not allowed.
- Event nights: when a big convention, a show at the Performing Arts Center or a Biscuits game lines up, the lobby, bar and garage get busy, so book early and allow extra time.
- Pool: the rooftop pool and whirlpool are seasonal.
- Wi-Fi: join Marriott Bonvoy (free) to make sure in-room Wi-Fi is included.
For a downtown stay that puts the Riverfront, the Civil Rights sites and the Capitol within reach, the Renaissance is a dependable, central base.
