The Pampered Pet Resort
About
The Pampered Pet Resort has been an independently owned fixture of Hoover’s pet care scene since October 2005, when founder Stephanie Clayton opened the business after researching pet care standards through the American Boarding Kennel Association. Nearly two decades later, the resort remains a locally run operation on Parkway Lake Drive, offering boarding, daycare and bathing services for both dogs and cats. Kennel manager Jade Sisk-Trott has overseen daily operations since 2011, giving the business a long tenured leadership team that many corporate boarding chains cannot match.

Dog boarding at the resort includes luxury suites along with multiple play yards where dogs can burn off energy throughout the day rather than sitting in a kennel run for hours at a time. The facility’s dog pool is a popular feature, giving boarded dogs a chance to swim and cool off, which is especially appealing during Alabama’s hot summer months. Doggie daycare is available for owners who need a safe, supervised place for their dog during the workday without committing to overnight boarding, and it gives dogs a chance to socialize and play rather than staying home alone.

Cats are cared for separately from the dog areas, with a dedicated cat boarding space that includes a cat condo built around a large aquarium, giving feline guests something interesting to watch during their stay. This kind of species specific design shows a level of thought that goes beyond a generic boarding operation, and it reflects the founder’s original goal of creating a resort that treats every pet according to its own needs rather than a one size fits all approach.

The resort keeps a detailed weekly schedule to accommodate working families: it is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a shorter Sunday window from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. reserved for pickup and drop off only. The facility closes daily from noon to 1 p.m. for staff breaks and midday care routines. Tours of the facility are available Monday through Saturday for prospective clients who want to see the boarding suites, play yards and cat area before booking a stay. As a locally owned resort with nearly twenty years of continuous operation under the same founder, The Pampered Pet Resort offers Hoover pet owners an alternative to corporate boarding chains, backed by a staff that has built long term relationships with the community’s dogs and cats. Bathing services round out the offerings, giving owners a convenient option for a clean pet without a full grooming appointment.
Boarding a pet is one of the more stressful decisions a family makes, whether it is for a weekend trip or a longer vacation, and the peace of mind that comes from a facility with a long, stable track record is hard to overstate. Nearly twenty years under the same ownership gives The Pampered Pet Resort a kind of institutional memory that newer boarding operations simply cannot match, from staff who recognize returning pets by name to routines that have been refined over thousands of stays. That kind of continuity also tends to show up in the details, such as the decision to give boarded dogs access to a pool for exercise and enrichment rather than leaving them in a kennel run for the length of a stay, or the choice to build a dedicated cat space with its own aquarium rather than treating feline boarding as an afterthought. Because the resort is independently owned rather than part of a national boarding franchise, decisions about how animals are cared for are made by people who have been present in the business since its earliest days, not by a corporate office setting policy from a distance. For Hoover families weighing where to leave a dog or cat while they travel, a locally owned resort with an established history and a founder still connected to daily operations offers a level of reassurance that is difficult to find at a newer or more corporate facility. The option to schedule a tour beforehand also lets prospective clients see the boarding suites and play areas firsthand before committing to a reservation.
