NOIR Luxury Cafe
About
NOIR Luxury Cafe is one of the newest coffee spots in Hoover, Alabama, and it comes with an unusual address: inside the Hoover Public Library at 200 Municipal Drive. The cafe opened in 2026 in the space that once housed East 59 Cafe’s library location, and its arrival was celebrated by the city as coffee returning to the library. Rather than a national chain filling the void, two local entrepreneurs stepped in with a concept built entirely around Hoover’s own business community.

NOIR is co-owned by Tiffaney Strayhorne, who also owns Pauline’s Fine Cakes, Desserts and Catering, and Tierra Robinson-Jeter, founder of La’Fleur Coffee Boutique. The two women met through the 4C Accelerator, a program designed to help entrepreneurs of color grow their businesses, and their partnership was further supported by a five thousand dollar grant from the Birmingham chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International, an organization that champions women in food, beverage, and hospitality. NOIR launched debt free, a detail the owners are proud to share, and the shop also runs a youth internship and workforce development program that gives young people in the Hoover area hands on experience in food service and hospitality.
The cafe’s tagline, “You’re Exactly Where You Should Be,” reflects the welcoming, community centered atmosphere the owners set out to build. Sitting inside a civic building rather than a strip mall or standalone storefront, NOIR was designed to feel like an extension of the library itself, a quiet, comfortable place where patrons can grab a specialty coffee before browsing the stacks, settle in with a laptop, or meet a friend for a slower afternoon. The partnership between a dessert specialist and a coffee entrepreneur shows up clearly on the menu, which blends handcrafted espresso drinks with elevated pastry and breakfast items.

The signature item on the menu is the Crown No. 9, a waffle pastry that rotates seasonal toppings throughout the year, giving regulars a reason to keep coming back to see what is new. Beyond that centerpiece, the cafe offers a full lineup of handcrafted lattes, cold brew, and seasonal specialty beverages, along with signature sandwiches built for a quick but satisfying lunch. One standout food item is the strawberry ricotta toast, made with whipped ricotta, fresh strawberries, basil, and artisan sourdough, a combination that leans into the elevated, café forward style the owners describe as central to the NOIR experience.
NOIR keeps a schedule built around library hours rather than typical restaurant hours. The cafe is closed Monday and Tuesday, open Wednesday through Friday from 9 in the morning until 6 in the evening, open Saturday from 10 until 5, and open Sunday afternoon from 1 until 5. That schedule makes it easy to plan a visit around a library trip, a work session, or a weekend outing with the family, since the library itself draws steady foot traffic from across Hoover.

What makes NOIR worth highlighting in a directory of independent Hoover businesses is not just the coffee and the desserts, but the story behind the counter. Two Birmingham area women built a business from the ground up, funded it without debt, and used their platform to create opportunities for young people entering the workforce. That combination of quality product and genuine community investment is exactly the kind of small business story that a directory like this one is meant to surface. For Hoover residents looking for a coffee shop with a real local story instead of a national logo on the cup, NOIR Luxury Cafe at the Hoover Public Library is worth the stop, whether for the Crown No. 9 or a quiet afternoon with a laptop and a latte.
